Happy Halloween Cobble Hill! The costumes are getting their final touches and everyone's ready to trick-or-treat! The costume parade will congregate in Cobble Hill Park tomorrow, leaving at 4:00pm. We will proceed from Congress Street to Henry Street, head south on Warren Street, and turn back to Clinton Street to return to Cobble Hill Park. The residents of the Cobble Hill Health Center are looking forward to seeing our costumes when the parade passes by on Henry! The route will be led by Captain Colon, Commanding Officer of the 76th Precint, and the Packer High School Jazz Band. See you tomorrow!

Signs of new Cobble Hill crosswalk at Congress/Bergen Street
Every day, scores of local residents cross Court street where there is a ADA accesible curb cut but no pedestrian signalization. As part of the Court Street corridor improvement plan which the Cobble Hill Association advocated for last year, a new crosswalk will remedy this danger and bring a signalized intersection to the pictured spot where Bergen becomes Congress Street. Latest word is that the safety enhancements should be installed by early summer, but fortunately you can already see the gray metal box in the ground which will soon house pedestrian signals. It's a small but significant improvement and one we are thankful to the Department of Transportation for taking action upon our request.

Eyes on Hicks Street Re-Stripings
As we announced last week, the Department of Transportation has begun some long awaited safety enhancements to Hicks Street. Fresh stripes on the ground improve crosswalks, delineate a parking lane that will soon return alternate side of the street parking to Hicks Street in the Northbound direction, and at two notoriously dangerous corners - both Kane Street & Congress Street - fresh paint marks off neckdowns that give pedestrians a bit more space and better sightlines. Stay tuned for more updates as DOT's progress continues. (and please excuse these photos being night time shots).

New development coming to Cobble Hill
A stretch of Congress Street will soon see many new developments as developers plan to renovate four historic townhouses and to build five more. The entire project has been approved by Community Board with seven specific conditions, including window realignment and changes to the
stoop designing more appropriate material to build stoops than metal. Now it will go before the Landmarks
Preservation Commission. The Real Deal has a complete write up on this story at the link below.
