Madam Secretary filming in Cobble Hill Park

Yet again, Cobble Hill Park will serve as the backdrop to another locally made TV series. Next Wednesday, March 11th keep your eyes peeled for several scenes taking place in and around Cobble Hill Park of the CBS series featuring Tea Leoni.

Expected scenes include...
1. a walk and talk in Cobble Hill Park where Madam Secretary and her husband are jogging along a path
2. a driving shot on Verandah Place which consists of a family getting in their car preparing for a lesson on driving
3. an interior scene in another house on Verandah place.
4. an exterior scene on Congress consists of an actress walking up to a door

City Council Hearing on Film Shoots

New York City is a hub for all facets of the entertainment industry and our city streets are regularly used as background for countless film shoots. This week, the City Council introduces legislation to begin counting them. While some enjoy seeing our own residential block make it to the big screen, others are frustrated by the temporary headaches a film crew can cause on the street. If you would like to make your own opinion on the topic heard, consider attending this upcoming hearing.

The committee will consider legislation requiring monthly and annual reports concerning film shoot permits. If attending and hoping to speak, it is typical practice to bring 20 copies of written testimony to submit to the city council.

Warner Bros. Filming in Cobble Hill

The location scouts with Warners Brothers pictures have let us know that the final days of their recent shooting stint in our neighborhood will occur 9/26, 9/29, & 9/30.

It will temporarily affect parking on the following streets in Cobble Hill...

Cheever Place bet. Kane & DeGraw Streets, Both Sides

Hicks Street bet. Sackett & Kane Streets, East Side

Henry Street bet. DeGraw & Kane Streets, West Side 1 spot

The Sun Will Come Out... on Friday 9/19

You know the story and can sing every line, so come join Cobble Hill's local elementary schoolPS29, for a FREE outdoor movie experience as PS 29 and the Cobble Hill Association present ANNIE - Friday September 19th 7:30pm @ the PS 29 COURTYARD

Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets and settle into the classic movie.

Total running time: 127 minutes. Movie starts at dusk with a candy concession stand whose proceeds all go to the PS29 PTA.

Cobble Hill on the Big Screen

Cobble Hill has a visual charm that's made it prime setting for many studios to film major motion pictures and tv series. With a recent string of film production crews dominating our local streets this summer to shoot The Intern and The Affair, perhaps it's time to remember some other times our neighborhood played a role in movie magic.

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey shared a scene walking through Cobble Hill park in the comedy Baby Mama (although it was set as Boston). Julia Roberts ate dinner at 172 Pacific Street in her world food adventure Eat, Pray, Love. And perhaps the most "winning" movie moment was when it literally rained money down upon the park.

Movie Filming on Cheever next week

Warner Brothers has given the Association advance noticed that they have secured permits to film 'The Intern' in Cobble Hill next week. They will be filming on Cheever Place on Sept 2 & 3, and then 2 more days later in September.  Below please find a resident letter that will also be distributing in area's parking footprint.  

Please note that they will have a large portion of their trucks / campers parked several blocks away from set, in an effort to minimize taking solely residential parking.

"The Intern" filming in Cobble Hill on Thursday 6.26

Our neighborhood continues to draw attention citywide, and this week Warner Brothers is coming to visit. They'll be using our local park for a scene in an upcoming project called 'The Intern.' You've likely already seen signs posted in the neighborhood as some parking restrictions will be in effect in and around Cobble Hill Park. We thank the studio for reaching out to the community in advance and know they will be partners in resolving any issues that may arise from this temporary inconvenience. 

For the purposes of staging scenes and parking production vehicles, PARKING will be held in advance of filming on these blocks:

Film Shoot in Cobble Hill next week

Just in from Community Board 6... a new film shoot will disrupt standard parking schedules in the neighborhood next week Wed & Thurs, April 18th and 19th. While it can undoubtedly be a headache to find parking when such a permit is offered, Julianne Cho, the associate commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, notes "There are typically anywhere from 50 to 75 productions in the city at any time. The industry brings in approximately $5 billion to the city’s economy each year". Just some food for thought...

Bullet Pictures lnc. is currently in production on a film titled “My Friend Vijay.” For purpose of staging equipment and parking production vehicles, Parking will be held in advance of filming on the following blocks:

• Warren Street btwn Clinton St & Henry St 
• Clinton St btwn Baltic St and Warren St 
• Clinton St btwn Warren St and Verandah PI
• Clinton btwn Verandah Pl and Congress St

Israeli FIlm Festival in Cobble Hill

Brooklyn's Israeli Film Festival is coming back to Cobble Hill at the end of the month, with three days of screenings at the Kane Street Synagogue. The series will showcase three films (The Debt, Restoration, and Dolphin Boy) and we encourage everyone to pay a visit to this gem in our neighborhood.

Amazon filming @ Ted & Honey

Cobble Hill is already a coveted spot for families and businesses, now once again it's the desired locale for another film shoot. Word just came in from CB6 that Eyeball NYC will be in production this week on a commercial for Amazon. 

"We will be filming at Ted & Honey Cafe and on Verandah Place from approximately 7:00am to 3:00pm on Tuesday September 27th. For the purposes of staging scenes and parking production vehicles, street parking will be held in advance on oth sides of Clinton from Kane to Verandah Place... We appreciate the opportunity to shoot in Cobble Hill and will do our best to hold only the space necessary, and operate in as clean and quiet a manner as possible.
